The Employment and Support Allowance was reduced from £103 to £73 a week this week in parliament. The conservative party showing again that they are the very opposite of a government for the people. They even squeezed it past the House of Lords, who had previously tried protecting money for those most in need.

Cameron and his ilk are the modern day equivalent of the Sheriff of Nottingham in the Robin Hood tales - taking from the poor and giving to the rich. Cameron can find money to wage war; Osbourne thinks it's absolutely fine for his family's firms not to pay corporate tax, and gives massive reductions in taxes to giants like Google but letting people on disability have enough money just to survive? No, that's too much for them. I genuinely see this as an abuse of Human Rights. In my opinion, these people want to kill off as many poor people as they can and get rich off the backs of anyone who is of lower middle class to middle class.

These people are parasites. They have done what no tory party has been able to do before - they have essentially rid England and Wales of the NHS. According to WHO, it has been abolished. While WHO state the UK, the Scottish govt have done a great deal to protect the NHS in Scotland.

2016: Jeremy Hunt, Human Rights, Fracking and all that

This week sees more and more Victorian-esque methods being brought in by the Tory party with regards to the NHS, working hours and what we can and cannot boycott, as well as the usual ill treatment of anyone on benefits but even more so those on disability.

Where do we stand with regard to human rights abuses? I had heard that the EU were investigating abuses by the Conservative party but have heard nothing of whether they were going to take any action.

And this while the UK faces an in/out referendum on the EU. The fact that we have the EU to turn to while these violations occurs should be reason enough to stay in but no, people are too blind or stupid to see that we will be even worse off if we leave Europe. We have minimum wages because of the EU, not to mention maximum number of hours to work, regulations on why and how we are fired or disciplined - all of these vanish as soon as we leave. Frankly I find it contemptible that politicians in Westminster are trying to encourage us to leave the EU - the same politicians who told Scotland that we would be better together. Frankly, I'd rather be free of WM and IN the EU but that's not happening, so far.

Jeremy Hunt was recently voted d*ck of the year by viewers of the Channel 4 show The Last Leg. For those of you who have no idea who this vile little excuse for a man is (and that really is an insult to men), he is the Health Secretary for the UK government. He is doing everything he possibly can to ruin and privatise the NHS. He is currently trying to work what he terms as 'junior doctors' into the ground - offering them less wages for more hours than a shelf stacker would receive in Aldi or other supermarkets. I use quotation marks for junior doctors because this is anyone below consultancy level, regardless of age, years experience or anything. It is a way to try to patronise and diminish them and their work.

Mr Hunt is currently the subject of a petition of no confidence that is rapidly gaining signatures. The man should resign before he is forced out but tories are a breed that don't know when to bow out - they would rather be shamed into submission. Something else that is on the agenda this year is the Scottish Parliament elections. While I intended to vote SNP in this, to show my utter contempt for other parties who formed the 'better together' campaign, I feel more reluctant than ever to do so. I am a strong opponent of fracking and the SNP have not yet stated that they will all out ban any possibility of fracking in Scotland. This makes me pause and look more towards the Scottish Green Party. I know many others are equally frustrated at the SNP playing both sides in this argument.

Fracking is, simply put, an environmental disaster waiting to happen. It is ecologically, geologically and biologically (human health) unsound and dangerous. All you have to do is look to the US for confirmation of how detrimental it is to local environs, people's health and to the stability of a region (earthquakes as a direct result of fracking). We are in the 21st Century - well into it now. Using barbaric, non-essential techniques like this is ridiculous, especially in such an oil rich country. There is not a single benefit to fracking, except lining the pockets of politicians. Frankly, I do not want these politicians in power!

This Boxing Day marked the 10 year anniversary of the Tsunami that wiped many people from the lands around the Indian Ocean and caused massive devastation. Al Jazeera covered this very well - link.

I haven't been posting on here for a while because for a little while I was in shock. We had the chance to be a fairer, more inclusive nation and we said no thanks. We'll take child poverty, demonising the poor and immigrants and all the other garbage the UK government wants to throw at us.

Now we see the real Westminster. Human rights are to be abolished. We're to come out of Europe, we're to keep our mouths shut or we'll be called extremists and will be arrested for it (anything classed as anti-govt will be deemed extremist).

They have decided to ignore the voice of the people of the whole of the UK and go ahead with fracking, something NO ONE voted for. This island has gone to shit in a handbag. We are seeing the beginnings of a fascist state. Where the govt knows the people won't approve of what they are doing, so they decide to make it illegal to speak out against them! it is shocking to the extreme.

And now they come out with - 'Oh look, we found more oil' - pretending that they held this information back until after the referendum and calling Yes voters liars when we said we knew it was there. The BBC re equally responsible for lying to the people of Scotland and many people have already cancelled their tv licenses.

Westminster will lose Scotland if it keeps this crap up any longer.

Scotland on the Eve of Independence and the BBC

s most of the world is now aware, tomorrow, 18th Spetmeber 2014, we in Scotland vote on our independence. I'm not sure how many of you are aware of the current situation in Scotland. We are not a democracy. Westminster rule s imposed upon us because our vote does not count against the vast majority of those south of the border. We are a more left wing country than our neighbours. We never vote for Conservative but time and again we have a Conservative government forced upon us.

In this last 4 years under that government, we have suffered a great deal. I am not saying we have suffered more than those in Eengland, Wales and N Ireland, but we are lucky enough to have the opportunity to free ourselves from this disaster.
I am also not saying we suffer like those in less 'lucky' countries. We do not have guns pointed at us, we are not suffering from a war on our land. But people are starving to death. And in one of the most oil rich countries in the world, that is a crime.

We had no say in the largest collection of nuclear weapons being stored just 25 miles away from our most densley populated area - this was forced upon us. We had no say in having to fork money out for this projet and many others, which in no way benefit the people of Scotland, but we have that forcd upon us. We had no say in entering an illegal war, but had that forced upon us. How can anyone call this a democracy? So we vote and I live in hope tht we vote Yes.

The media has been shocking as a whole but the BBC is the flagship of the Better Together (No) campaign. We are witnessing the same propaganda used y the Nazis. I am not sayign we are in the same situation, we are not, bt the Nazis used a form of propaganda that the BBC and many of the main newspapers are using - covering up the truth, editing to make their point rather than show the truth. Now we know this is happening because, luckily, many other countries film the same interviews etc and showed the actual footage. One example is Nick Robinson of the BBC heckling Alex Salmond and then stating that he didn't answer the question, when everyone heard him answer the question (but the BBC did not show him answering this question). Another example is them covering the Orange march in Edinburgh, but ignoring the 10s of thousands of people gathered for a Yes campaign in cities across the country,, from Glasgow to Aberdeen, Inverness to Stirling.

The BBC, Cameron and Nigel Farage (now you know you're on the wrong side when you are joined by this bigotted idiot) have talked about separatism, anti-English hatred and how all Scots want to be free of England. These are all lies. I will not lie and say that there are not a few people who possiby think this way. There will be. But millions of Scots are voting for a fairer and just society, for our NHS and many other things. This has nothing to do with the English. Farage tries to make others look worse than his party because it suits him to have people scrutinise others while he gets up to his nasty business. Scotland is wholeheartedly disgusted by him and he and his ilk are not welcome here. English people are. They claim Alex Salmond is the Yes campaign. He is not, he is part of it. The amount of hate spewed over our First Minister is shocking, and it is the BBC and the No Campaign who are responsible for demonising a man who is simply trying to free his country from Westminster.

The No camp have been found out on several occasions for telling horrible lies and spreading fear. Telling Pensioners that they will lose their pensions. Lie. Telling EU memberes that they will be forced to leave Scotland if the Yes camp win - lie. Telling people they will lose their benefits if they vote Yes - lie. The sad trth is, people are more likely to lose if they vote No. Pensions are becoming worthless under Westminster governing - we have seen the value drop since 2010. EU members might not be welcome after a No vote because the UK wants to leave the EU, Scotland does not, so this is MORE likely to happen under a No vote. And we all know that undr these current 'austerity measures' benefitshave been gretly reduced, and in many cases stopped, resulting in people committing suicide. The No camp should be ashamed at themselves for this terrible campaign they have managed. 'Campaign Fear' indeed.

So tomorrow, I ask the people of Scotland to take a long, hard look at the situation we are in. Is this Better? is this really all we can hope to expect? Vote with your heart, with hope, rather than out of fear.

Independence v Better Together

I have tried not to write too much about the upcoming referendum because I do like to try to stay neutral but given the blatant bias of the BBC I feel independent bloggers need to redress that balance where possible. The Better Together campaign and David Cameron continue to make up whatever they want, only to be caught in that lie, and they move on to the next one. Take Scotland and the EU. People in Scotland, be you Scottish, English, Irish, Welsh, Polish or any other nationality, need to ask themselves a few basic questions.

Do you want Nuclear Weapons in this country? If the answer is no, you should vote YES
Do you want to retain the NHS? If the answer is yes, you should vote YES
Do you think we should have a welfare system? If the answer is yes, you should vote YES
Do you want a greener Scotland (environmentally)? If yes, you should vote YES
Do you think of Scotland as a country rather than a region? If yes, then you should vote YES
Do you believe in democracy? If yes, then you should vote YES (a no means Scotland's votes remain null under a UK election)
Do you want another Tory government? If no, then you should vote YES
Do you want a country associated with UKIP? If no, then you should vote YES
If you were living in an independent country would you join the UK as it currently stands? If no, you should vote YES
Do you want a fair and just society? If yes, then you should vote YES
Do you want affordable childcare? If yes, you should vote YES

Another point I would like to make is that voting YES in the referendum is NOT a vote for the SNP or Alex Salmond - that is like saying voting NO is a vote for David Cameron and the tories. I don't vote SNP generally. I have been a liberal voter until the last election, when they stated they would never back a referendum, let alone independence. I vote Green in the EU elections and am still a liberal/socialist.

I find Labour to be as treacherous to their voters as the LibDems have been. New Labour have completely turned their back on their socialist past, allowing and indeed including new reforms which essentially backs tory reforms. Lamont is a mouthpiece for Milliband, who is a parrot of Cameron. This is why more and more Labour voters are changing position and stating that they will vote YES in September.

Better Together have now started a strategy of guaranteeing Devo max. Devolution to the max is a lie. Lamont and the Better Together campaign cannot guarantee devo max, they are not in power and going by polls, they will not be in power in 2015. If UKIP get in, they want to scrap the Scottish Parliament altogether (where is democracy there?). Cameron and his party will never give devo max powers. this is the proverbial carrot before the donkey. What we will get if a no vote wins is the stick, which is exactly what we got in 1979 when we dared to hope (we voted YES in '79. But Westminster brought in a rule about turnout. We were stamped into the ground after this referendum for trying to leave the UK).

Voting YES is not about separatism, as the BBC and Better Together would have you believe. Scotland will still be part of the commonwealth, still have the Queen as head of state and will still have the pound (I genuinely believe this because we offer too much for the rest of the UK not to give us that). We are geographically linked, we are not going anywhere. We simply want a better future, which most of us cannot see with a Westminster govt. The system is broken beyond repair and Scotland is lucky enough to have an opt out, unlike the rest of the British Isles.

Better Together seem to think that things will improve after a no vote. Where is this coming from? Will the tories suddenly grow a conscience? Will they stop trying to privatise the NHS? Will they continue to waste tax payers money on irrelevancies such as self portraits while millions require foodbanks? Austerity does not work and yet we are subjected to the worst policy we have seen since the 1920s. Osbourne has already told us that cuts will continue for several years, so things will get Worse, not better, over the next few years under a Westminster state.

I genuinely believe we have a chance at a better future as an independent country. I hope you see that too.

The State of UK politics just now

Politics in the UK at the moment are more than a little messy. Nick Clegg is convinced that his leaving the Liberal Democrat party will not change their stance in the public's opinion, the Tory's are feeling smug that they will likely win the next general election, Labour cannot see that Ed Milliband is not going to work for them as a party leader and Nigel Farage is happy as a pig in mud that his party have done so well, and thinks this is a good sign for the next general election. In Scotland, the Better Together campaign think they are the better off campaign re Scottish Independence! Everyone is delusional just now.

Nick Clegg will never win any popularity with the public if he remains leader of the LibDems. They need to cut off that arm to save the body, as it were. Everyone feels betrayed by a man who saught power for himself and his party over what he could do for his members and the public. Only by getting rid of him can they hope to save their party, or it will disappear into the annuls of history. In Scotland, only by cutting all ties with the UK LibDem party can the Scottish LibDems hope to retain any glimmer of power, any belief from the voters up here. The LibDems north of the border also need to pull their finger out and realise they are missing a huge opportunity here. Many Scots want to stay in Europe but out of the UK. If the UK holds a European referendum, Scotland will be forced out of Europe, as this is what the majority of people in England want. If the LibDems in Scotland can get behind the yes campaign, they can work with the Scottish government in keeping Scotland within Europe.

It really does look like the Tory's will get into power at the next general election, because people are stupid enough to vote for them. Regardless of the number of people having to use foodbanks, or the disintegration of the NHS, people south of the border still prefer them to a Labour government! Things will only get worse for the average person if we are continually subjected to a Conservative government!

Ed Milliband continues to look weak in the public eye and Labour seems to think that sticking with him is the only option! They do seem to have a relatively weak party just now, with no obvious replacements for Milliband, should they decide he won't gain them power (which they won't. I have nothing against Milliband, I'm sure he is a decent person but he is not a strong leader and we need a strong leader). On the Scottish side, Joanned Lamont is still looking weak and sadly, very stupid. She is blindly ignorant of the position she is calling for Scotland to put itself in. Labour cannot and will not win at the next election, so she is saying Scotland would be better under a Conservative govt?!!! Scottish Labour also need to separate themselves from their Westminster counterparts and look to doing the best for the people of Scotland, rather than toe-ing the line of their 'betters' in London.

I was disgusted beyond belief at the sweeping victory UKIP had in the European elections. Come on people! We fought a war to keep fascists out of the UK and you just gave a bunch of them more power!!! If you wanted to make a protest, you could have voted Green, or the Peace Party, for heavens sake, rather than such a destructive alternative! In my opinion, UKIP are fascists, sexisms, racists, bigots and want to class equality. If UKIP gain more power at the next general election (and that is looking quite likely) then you can say goodbye to the minimum wage and all those rights that being a member of the EU affords us. This is a party for white, middle-classed men and no one else! Sadly, it is looking like the next UK govt will either be tory or tory/UKIP coalition!

The Better Together campaign in Scotland are getting nastier and nastier. this is what dirty politics is all about. Fear makes them lash out. They guarantee that we will gain devo max should we vote no. They have no power to make that statement! Alistair Darling has absolutely no right to offer this. Joanne Lamont has no right and no power to guarantee it and yet they continue to do so. if we vote No, Scotland will be subjected to a backlash along the lines of the 1979 backlash, where Scotland was pummeled for even thinking of Independence!

Voting Yes in the Referendum in September is voting for a future of hope, rather than voting of the bleakness of the last 4 years, of reduced benefits, a dissolving NHS and wasting money on Trident! Voting Yes is saying no to nuclear weapons, yes to our NHS, yes t democracy (no matter how we vote in a general election just now, our votes don't count. In an independent Scotland, all votes would count)!

BBC & Scottish Independence Debate

There are many things I could focus on this week, such as what is happening in Socchi, or the flooding of parts of the UK but what I really want to discuss at the moment is what is happening at the BBC with regard to the 'Independence debate'. Over the past year or more I have slowly but surely become more disgusted at the blatant lack of objectivity that the BBC has shown in this debate and in everything surrounding it.

My partner asks me why I am surprised, given how much of a voice-box they have become for the government but I genuinely felt that, as an allegedly independent broadcasting corporation, they would remain impartial. No such luck. The programmes produced over the past few months about Scotland and the Scottish debate have all been from a vote no point of view, nostalgic for 'best of british' and generally negative on anything remotely regarded as being in the yes campaign. There is no proper discussion, merely politician after politician being strutted out in front of thee camera to make comments on why we are safer to stay in the UK.

They do not mention the fact that it is looking more and more likely that the folks south of the border will vote the Tory party in yet again, further rippling those in need and killing off the NHS - something that, yet again, Scotland will have zero say in. If we are to be free of the Conservative party we need to vote yes. If we are to ever decide for ourselves who we want to govern us, we have to vote yes. All the scaremongering in the world from the BBC and the PM cannot change these facts.

I think its about time that the BBC pulled back from the debate completely if they cannot be impartial they should not report anything regarding this topic. It has put me off the BBC to the extent that I have stopped watching anything on the BBC and have switched to other channels.

Charity Advertising

One of the saddening and angering things about this time of year (just before and a while after Christmas) are the adverts requesting you have your phone/mobile handy to contact charities. The adverts then go on to become the most disgusting pieces of manipulation that you could see on non-fiction television. They seem to be aimed at older people who tend to be more vulnerable to this kind of manipulation, as sadly, because of this kind of hard and cruel television anyone under the age of fifty is becoming immune to the horrors that the world and these so called charities portray.

I must say shame on the charities that really play the pity cards. Rather than having a campaign that is positive or showing the good work charity money is doing, they focus on the horrors they are trying to stop, to guilt people into paying them. I don't like to name names but the kind of ads I am talking about include Anthony Nolan, the animal cruelty prevention campaigns and anything to do with helping blind people in poor countries. I find myself, like many, many others, switching off when these adverts come on because I think they are almost a form of emotional blackmail and it is often the most vulnerable in society who end up giving all they can to these charities.

You should never feel forced into giving to charity - because then it is not charity, it is a form of extortion (I am not claiming that these adverts are extortion).

Because so many groups are opting for these tactics, people in the 21st century tend to suffer compassion fatigue (where you become immune/resistant to helping others because you are saturated with images of horrors or left feeling that the money you donate is not going where you would like it to).

Personally I shall not give a penny to anyone trying to guilt money out of me. I give what I can when I can and no ad campaign will change my views, rather they make me so angry it only makes me turn to charities that do not opt for this kind of money-raising.

I do think that people should give what they can afford to charity, be it time, money, clothing/food etc, because we are all humans and should try to help one another out. I am also aware of the fact that despite the government's attempts to claim otherwise, the average person is still struggling with the recession (even though some would have us believe it is over). This is also a time of year when people have very little left over from the festive season and so I think it is a particularly poor choice of time to begin any kind of campaign trying to raise money.

Please note that I am not trying to decry charities. I am simply saying that I think the adverts some charities choose to produce are vulgar and hitting below the belt.

World Politics Just Now

Firstly, I would like to congratulate (sarcasm) Australia voting in a complete misogynist to be Prime Minister, Tony Abbott. Well done you, and a healthy step back for womens rights. This so called liberal politician has been noted for making many comments against women, even in his own party. I had wanted to visit Australia. Think I'll give it a wide berth now! I feel very sorry for the women of that country because a man like this can only do harm. Let us sit back and see just how 'liberal' he really is!

My heart goes out to the people of Mogadishu after a bomb in a restaurant killed at least 15 people!! The reastaurant, called The Village, was popular with journalists and govt workers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-24000782

Greece is in the news at the moment as the Prime Minister says that the economy is recovering - coining the phrase 'Grecovery'. However economists are forecasting that the Greek economy will shrink a further 4.2% this year. Is Prime Minister Samaras being optimistic or is he painting a falses picture for his voters? The people of Greece do not seem inclined to agree with the PM, as protests continue on the streets.

IOC and Russia

Normally I like to think that for the most part, countries should be left to their own devices. Who are we to tell other countries how to run their state? However, in light of the Winter Olympic Games being held in Sochi in 2014, I do think we need to force the IOC into changing venue, or to make Putin back down on these highly oppressive laws he has been introducing.

We are in the 21st century and yet some countries, who try to align themselves with Western ideals and thinking, as well as Western capitalism, seem to think its ok to bring in new laws that tyrannise minority groups within their own land! How is this forward thinking? Indeed, it is the exact opposite. With the new laws against gays/lesbians Putin has pushed Russia back into the past.

To think that the IOC, who have strong guidelines for what is to be expected of a host nation, can think that it is acceptable for Russia to bring out these laws and keep the priviledge of being a host, is quite frankly, absurd!

I think we should call on the IOC to put it to Russia to overturn new laws against gay and lesbian citizens (and visitors) or face having the Winter Olympics 2014 moved to another venue.

I am rather disgusted that the IOC have not already done this. They are putting gay and lesbian participants, commentators and supporters at risk of violence and jail!

As Stephen Fry so eloquently put it, this is remeniscent of another European tyrant, Hitler!

I would say to Russia, and to Putin in particular, rethink what you are doing. If you want to be accepted by the more liberal countries in the world, treating those who are different from you with respect is a must!

A lot of news!

A few things to talk about today - some good, some not so good.

Firstly, I think it is wonderful that many Labour MPs are finally going for the Yes vote for independence in Scotland. I was talking to a friend who is English, lives in Scotland and votes Labour. He's worried that the SNP are anti-English. They're not anti anything. They have English and Muslim MPs within their ranks. This is not about being anti-anything, its about being pro Scotland, about leading ourselves, making all the bi8g decisions for ourselves and being responsible for and to ourselves. This is a good thing. I am really, really happy to see that many Labour voters and MPs are finally seeing that now. I hope other parties will follow on, although I really do not care what tory MPs and their handful of followers do. It is so obvious when a tory/Conservative government is in charge - you have extreme poverty and a minority of rich powerful thugs getting richer and more powerful.

Second on the menu is the fact that this horrific government I was just mentioning are planning on censoring our freedom to look at what we want on websites. It started with porn and fair enough, I agree especially with reference to illegal and inappropriate porn but now it is moving on to other things. And so our civil liberties are being infringed. And the government has the cheek and audacity to call the Chinese totalitarian!!!

Thirdly, the fact that there is a protest going on in Bulgaria that no one in the media seems to be paying much attention to. Fourthly, Iranian pregnant woman was hung to death!!! We are all human beings and all deserves a little respect. I think the higher ups needs to remember that, treat their people with a little respect and stop thinking so much about themselves. They are meant to be the SERVANTS of their country - not in it to exploit their position for everything they can get. This goes for Iran as well as the others. Women are people too. If a woman is attacked she should be protected and treated carefully. It is not her fault. I really wish they would see that!

Budget and Independence Mis-Information

After hearing Osbourne rip any hope of a blooming economy away from the UK, I feel very dejected about the future for not only business here but also for living anything more than a very basic life for the majority of us.

Rather than cutting more jobs and welfare, why can't they charge wealthier prisoners for their meals and upkeep? Rather than talk of jailing bankers, why not simply fine them huge quantities (because jailing them means that yet again, they are taking from the tax payer).

I would genuinely like to see MP's taking a pay cut but they won't. They grumbled because they didn't get their usual pay rise (while everyone else's pays had been frozen they expected to keep their raise!).

We are an island in mourning for a decent goverment.

We do have a light on the horizon. At least some of us can get out of this - Scotland has the referendum next year and I genuinely hope we can break away from the Tory Totaitarian state we are currently forced into. I genuinely feel sorry for the rest of the UK who don't have that option. Only a small proportion of the population actually voted in the last election and enabled these awful people in.

According to the BBC, the UK government are about to announce that if Scotland were to break away from the rest of the UK mobile phones would charge for roaming fees is they then travelled to England/Wales etc, as it would be classed as going abroad.

They also announced that Post Offices would close and the rural broadband scheme would be cancelled.

Lets look at each of these claims:

'well before 2016' the Eu is hoping to cancel the roaming fees - problem solved.

They have been closing more and more post offices in Scotland for more than 10 years and there has been an underlying threat of privatisation (a key word for tories) since the tories came back into power!

As someone who lived in a very, very remote part of Scotland (Island of Skye had more going for it that our area!) for several years and only moved to Argyll a couple of months ago, I can tell you that this rural broadband scheme doesn't seem to exist yet - BT made it very clear to us that London came first when we enquired about getting broadband. We had to use a dongle.

This aspect is simply a farce and doesn't exist now, so why would we think going Independent would make a remote difference? Westminster needs to come up with real issues and not make rubbish up!

A few major issues

Today I would like to discuss a few things. Firstly, the lack of coverage of the uprising in Turkey, where protesters are being blatantly and violent abused by the regime there: BBC report

It is shocking that this isn't all over the news, like the Arab Spring Rising was a few years ago, and Syria continues to be. This rising has now breached Europe and the totalitaran state that Turkey has become. They very recently hurried through laws allowing for forgein oil exploration within their borders to appease the likes of the US and now it seems that they can do as they please!! My sympathy goes to the people of Turkey.

As it is Wednesday, it is Prime Minister Questions, although frankly I don't know why its called that because he 'answers' every question with one of his own, unskillfully avoiding the arguments. I really do disair at the behaviour of these childish Etonians. It galls me that these boys are our 'leaders'. Cameron still seems oblivious to the fact that it takes years of training for a doctor and a nurse and takes all the credit for the increase in the numbers of both - when this was cleary implemented by the last govt.

As to Scotland, I am coming to the realisation that we really are better off away from the UK. England (in the majority) seems to want to leave the EU - not realising how less well off they will be. Most of our exports go to the EU and that would fall dramatically if we were no longer a part of the community. Given the results of the last election (where almost no one in Scotland voted Conservative (1 seat) but we got the Tory govt anyway)it is clear that regardless of how Scotland votes, it will be England's decision (they have 10 x the population we have).

Add to that the fact that the Tories are doing everything they possibly can to ruin and sell off the NHS, plus they want to put £150 million into a new trident project, I think it is necessary for the people of Scotland to vote YES in 2014. No matter what we vote as a nation in the UK elections and referndums, we are voiceless in the sheer mass that is south of the border and are dragged along however they please. I do not think this is a democratic society and I do not want it any more. I have many dear friends south of the border and I love them a great deal. I simply do not want to be dictated to by Westminster any longer, not when it is doing such a horrific job!

I do not think money will be an issue - we have so many resources and I think, if the Crown etc wish to maintain the oil drilling, we will manage to keep the £. We will be able to maintain our own NHS far better than Westminster ever could and we will remain in Europe, which is essential in the 21st century. I think the naesayers are scared, and that's their right but I do not want to be connected to a country that votes against everything we vote for. That is not democracy, it is autocracy!

The Justice and Peace Pilgrimage

The justice and peace pilgrimage is currently ongoing in Scotland just now, before heading to London. Not really a religious pilgrimage but one protesting trident etc. They are protesting the fact that the government are currently planning to spend £100,000,000 on replacing the trident nuclear defence system based on the river Clyde at the Faslane Naval Base, while at the same time continuing to slash budgets for health, education and welfare. This affects some of the poorest and most dis-advantaged people in the country.

Government spokespeople have already confirmed that they would never utilise or have any use for nuclear deterents, that missiles would never be launched or used to shoot down any incoming fire. This is therefore a redundant plan.

The justice and peace pilgrimage began on Iona, at the Abbey and will continue, via the clyde, to Westminster, walking all the way. While the focus is definitely on peace and awarenes of the trident project, they pilgrimage will be visitng places of spiritual and historical significance along the way. They are open to all faiths as well as those of no religious path

Protecting our rights

Our rights should be protected and this means looking out for ourselves and one another for all aspects of life. It came to my attention today that the EU plan to rule on whether we should be 'allowed' to sell and share seeds ourselves, or whether this should be left in the hands of big business, like Monsanto.

Please sing and share the petition below to let them know that you will not comply with this ridiculous ruling. Everyone has the right to grow fruit and vegetables etc for themselves and their families, and to sell them if they so choose. But big businesses like Monsanto want to take power out of our hands and force us into buying GM products. Well i say no and I hope that you will join me!

Wind Farms

I'd like to do a quick post on the new ban on wind farms in 'scenic' locations. I have to say I'm disappointed because many people will use this as an excuse to prevent wind farms from being built in their areas - who decides what is 'scenic' and what is not?

And why move them away from cities towns and villages? This is where they are needed and frankly, most towns and cities would not be 'uglified' by a few wind farms in the area! This is not a wise decision.

I do believe that SSSI sites and nature reserves etc should be protected, and I believe they already are - it would not be possible to build wind farms in these locations. So what does 'scenic' mean and can anyone claim that their area is 'scenic' just so that they can stop them being built there?

Wind farms are the future. Along with solar panels and other renewable energy. Oil and gas will one day run out, or be so expensive than no ordinary person could possibly afford them. We need these farms built and the more people object, the more they harm their own future and that of generations to come. Stop being selfish and let it happen. Most farms are placed out of the way anyway.

And please do not comment about how they don't work - that's rubbish. Would the government really spend so very much money on something that was proven not to work - on this kind of scale?

EU to ban bee-harming pesticiides

Finally, the European Union have voted to ban neonicotinoid pesticides - the biggest killer of bees across the world.

This is a vital step in ensuring the survival of the most important species on the planet!

These pesticides will not be banned completely, only across crops that attract bees. Not enough countries voted for a complete ban, so they have decided to carry a two year restriction on its usage.

Foodbank usage rises

In the UK we have something called a foodbank - where people with little to no money can go and get a small box of food if they are really struggling to survive. The use of foodbanks has been rising steadily since the Conservative prty (Tories) came into power a few years ago.

Alarmingly the number of people using them is said to have more than doubled in the last year. Alas, this is the case of a legacy of a tory government. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. In fact, the poor often starve to death, as is the case just now. The Citizens Advice Bureau thinks that the main reason for this is the loss of income usually resulting in losing a job.

While the tories make claims that they have increased the number of people in work, the figures show that this is not the case. Most often, people have gone from working full time, to working part time, or not working at all. This sudden loss of a wage means that more people are seeking out emergency aid in the form of food banks.

It does make me wonder when the tories will actually take note that they are the reason so many people in this country are starving to death!

A rotten funeral

Everywhere you look people are discussing Margaret Thatcher, the Iron Lady, former Prime Minister of the UK.

To a very small few in the South of England, (te SE is the ONLY part of England she and hergovernment did not destroy and is therefore the only part of the country that will mourn her loss). I say loss but for the most part, the UK will celebrate, much as the US celebrated the death o Saddam or bin Laden, because to u, she was their equivalent.

Maggie was universally reviled in Scotland, Ireland, Wales and N England, as well as parts of the SW of England.

I was shocked that a few ignorant feminists in the US are regaling her as a feminist icon. Maggie herself stated that feminism was poison. She was not a feminist, she did nothing to support women, but promoted the rule of individualism, stepping over anyone to get as much money as possible and calling peaceful people like Nelson Madela a terrorist!!! This from someone who classed General Pinochet as a close friend! It does NOTHING good for feminism to class this awful excuse for a woman, a feminist!!

My real gripe here, as with so many others, is that we, the public, who almost completely could not care less about this woman, are being made to pay for a state funeral for her!!! I do not care that technically it is a ceremonial funeral, it's the same and will cost £10 million.

In a time of recession, this is like being spat in the face and told you'll be sued because your face took that spit!

The Guardian and other papers are suggesting that they privatise her funeral, after all, she was the queen of privatisation! I think that this, while merely a joke, is a good rule. Those foolish enough to think this horrific woman deserved this can take it from their own pocket and not out of the mouths of those who genuinely need that money! Shame on David Cameron, shame on the tories and shame on the Westminster oiks who support this.

Oh and in case any readers are not aware - her faily are rolling in money, they are very, very well off but are only paying 1 2 thousandth of the cost towards her funeral. on't know any other family that does nt contrribute more. If her family doesnot watto pay - why should wee. Plus - the fact that they don't pay more isa very good indicator of the kind of p0erson she was.
