Scotland on the Eve of Independence and the BBC

s most of the world is now aware, tomorrow, 18th Spetmeber 2014, we in Scotland vote on our independence. I'm not sure how many of you are aware of the current situation in Scotland. We are not a democracy. Westminster rule s imposed upon us because our vote does not count against the vast majority of those south of the border. We are a more left wing country than our neighbours. We never vote for Conservative but time and again we have a Conservative government forced upon us.

In this last 4 years under that government, we have suffered a great deal. I am not saying we have suffered more than those in Eengland, Wales and N Ireland, but we are lucky enough to have the opportunity to free ourselves from this disaster.
I am also not saying we suffer like those in less 'lucky' countries. We do not have guns pointed at us, we are not suffering from a war on our land. But people are starving to death. And in one of the most oil rich countries in the world, that is a crime.

We had no say in the largest collection of nuclear weapons being stored just 25 miles away from our most densley populated area - this was forced upon us. We had no say in having to fork money out for this projet and many others, which in no way benefit the people of Scotland, but we have that forcd upon us. We had no say in entering an illegal war, but had that forced upon us. How can anyone call this a democracy? So we vote and I live in hope tht we vote Yes.

The media has been shocking as a whole but the BBC is the flagship of the Better Together (No) campaign. We are witnessing the same propaganda used y the Nazis. I am not sayign we are in the same situation, we are not, bt the Nazis used a form of propaganda that the BBC and many of the main newspapers are using - covering up the truth, editing to make their point rather than show the truth. Now we know this is happening because, luckily, many other countries film the same interviews etc and showed the actual footage. One example is Nick Robinson of the BBC heckling Alex Salmond and then stating that he didn't answer the question, when everyone heard him answer the question (but the BBC did not show him answering this question). Another example is them covering the Orange march in Edinburgh, but ignoring the 10s of thousands of people gathered for a Yes campaign in cities across the country,, from Glasgow to Aberdeen, Inverness to Stirling.

The BBC, Cameron and Nigel Farage (now you know you're on the wrong side when you are joined by this bigotted idiot) have talked about separatism, anti-English hatred and how all Scots want to be free of England. These are all lies. I will not lie and say that there are not a few people who possiby think this way. There will be. But millions of Scots are voting for a fairer and just society, for our NHS and many other things. This has nothing to do with the English. Farage tries to make others look worse than his party because it suits him to have people scrutinise others while he gets up to his nasty business. Scotland is wholeheartedly disgusted by him and he and his ilk are not welcome here. English people are. They claim Alex Salmond is the Yes campaign. He is not, he is part of it. The amount of hate spewed over our First Minister is shocking, and it is the BBC and the No Campaign who are responsible for demonising a man who is simply trying to free his country from Westminster.

The No camp have been found out on several occasions for telling horrible lies and spreading fear. Telling Pensioners that they will lose their pensions. Lie. Telling EU memberes that they will be forced to leave Scotland if the Yes camp win - lie. Telling people they will lose their benefits if they vote Yes - lie. The sad trth is, people are more likely to lose if they vote No. Pensions are becoming worthless under Westminster governing - we have seen the value drop since 2010. EU members might not be welcome after a No vote because the UK wants to leave the EU, Scotland does not, so this is MORE likely to happen under a No vote. And we all know that undr these current 'austerity measures' benefitshave been gretly reduced, and in many cases stopped, resulting in people committing suicide. The No camp should be ashamed at themselves for this terrible campaign they have managed. 'Campaign Fear' indeed.

So tomorrow, I ask the people of Scotland to take a long, hard look at the situation we are in. Is this Better? is this really all we can hope to expect? Vote with your heart, with hope, rather than out of fear.

A few things political

Firstly, congratulations President Obama - you are an amazing man who deserves to be re-elected :D

I meant to write this last week but was away. On last week's Question Time on BBC 1 and idiot in the audience wanted to know why, rather than using wind farming, we don't use nuclear fuels for renewable energy.

Sometimes the stupidity of people astounds me. Wind farms do not leave waste that we, as yet, cannot safely destroy. In fact, we have a job storing it safely and this is why there are not more nuclear power plants all over the place. I would ask this imbecile whether he would be happy to have one in his back garden. i know the answer would be no - the the politicians who make these idiotic suggestions would also answer no this this question. No, they would want these power stations somewhere like, oh I don't know - SCOTLAND, WALES< N ENGLAND, anywhere they think is out of the way. These people anger me on so many levels. They talk about wind farms being aesthetically unpleasing - who cares, they work and in a few years they will bring energy prices down. Like all new things, they need time to iron out the wrinkles, make sure they are working to their optimum. In the case of the nuclear power sugestion - we have been dealing with the same problesm for 40 years. A friend of mine is a nuclear engineer. She inspects power stations to make sure they are storing waste and other byproducts properly. She once told me that if the public knew what she saw they'd be terrified. THAT is why we do not want more nuclear power stations. The other thing I want to mention is this guff about ONE NATION that Labour and their ilk keep spouting. Nobody feels that we are one nation and how dare they try to make us so. Scotland is Scotland, N Ireland is N Ireland, Wales is Wales and England is England. We are all proud to be part of our respective nations and should not be made to feel like we are being imalgumated into this one nation nonsense. Leave the One Nation ideas to the Americans - they said it first. The Speaker of the Scottish Parliament today acidentally called Ruth Davis, Leader of the Scottish Conservatives Ruth Lamont (mixing her name with Labour's Joanne Lamont's). This was, in so many ways, very apt as the two parties are practically walking together hand in hand in their opposition to SNP. The thing that angers me about this is the sheer betrayal these 2 parties are offering to the people of Scotland. I do feel that independence is on the way. I also feel taht we will need parties after this happens. I for one will not vote SNP again after we gain this, as I do not agree with a lot of their policies. We will need parties we can feel secure in voting for (Personally, I don't feel anyone should ever vote Conservative but that's a personal opinion and I feel we are all entitled to vote for whomever we wish). Labour, in their denial of wanting Scotland to be independent, offer no alternative to this post 2014. Liberal Democrats also offer up this same betrayal. I find that hard to swollow as I was a LibDem voter until they declared they were against the referendum. The UK government got in on a 38% vote - that's no where near half the UK vote and yet they got in. none of these votes came from Scotland, which shows how little our voice is heard in Westminster. This is the main reason we need to have independence, so that we can choose out government and govern ourselves. Today is the beginning of the Lib Dem Conference and we have seen MP after MP waxing lyrical about the state of the nation and what has been happening since they joined the coalition.

No one has, so far, mentioned (on the record, on the stage) that Nick Clegg should resign. They laud his apology, mas though this is enough to make up for the bare-faced lies the Lib Dems uttered to get the votes they received in the last election.

In order to survive beyond the next election, the Lib Dems must face up to the fact that Nick Clegg is viewed not only as damaged goods, but falty goods at that. No longer will the general public look on this man as honest, decent or anything other than the sell-out he is.

Here in Scotland, as I said in my previous post, the Lib Dems must break away from the national party if they are to survive beyond 2014. This is more than simple opinion, this is stating fact. They lost so many votes to the SNP and Labour that they will not gain any seats and will probably lose most if not all of their current seats in Parliament. This is what happens when you so blatantly go back on your word.

As I also mentioned in my last post, the fact that they are so against the independence referendum, let alone independence, is another blow to a great many Scots, given the show of force at the March for Independence in Edinburgh on Saturday, 22nd September. More and more people are now moving to a yes vote for independence, given what the tory government has done to the whole of the UK, a government that Scotland did not vote for. We have fewer tory seats than almost any other part of the UK.

Finally, I would like to mention the disgust I have for both the PM and for the minister, Andrew Mitchell, whom no one had heard of prior to today, for the latters outburst at the police and for the PM backing him.

Mr Mitchell verbally attacked 2 police officers who were DOING THEIR JOB by not letting him in to Downing Street. They did not recognise him and followed procedure. He verbally attacked them, calling them 'plebs' in a show of utter disregard.

Many people may have noticed an increase in police activity in the last week, after the 2 WPC's were so awfull and sadly murdered. They have been putting on a show of strength and solidarity and this minister shows with audacity and unrespectful disregard how little he thinks of the police force. Shame on you Andrew Mitchell, Shame.

Highlands top for UK tourists

A fantastic boost for income/tourism and business in the Highlands of Scotland but hopefully not all these soon to arrive tourists will be driving.

With many roads in very poor conditions after 2 very cold winters in a row, heavy traffic is an issue, not to mention terrible drivers and ignorance of how to drive on single track roads.

People who learn to drive in the city and spend most of their time driving on motorways or other straight roads are not only a hindrance on Scottish roads but are in many cases the cause of so many road accidents (this is aimed at all city drivers, including Scottish ones).

The poorest driving I see, and unfortunately on a very regular basis, are the ones who speed up on the straight and break, doing 30 miles an hour around any slight bend or curve in the road. This means those who know the roads are held up on the bends but don’t get the opportunity to over-take on the straight. This is bad and dangerous driving, causes frustration and encourages people to take more risks than they normally would. It is no wonder the amount of road traffic accidents more than trebles (all over the UK, not just in the Scottish Highlands).

While most people are more than happy (and indeed welcome) tourists to their area, we would very much appreciate it if many more of you would use public transport instead of frustrating people/causing accidents.

Rothesay to get lottery funding of 1.5mn!

Rothesay, on the Isle of Bute, is to be given £1.5mn as a ‘revamp’ from the heritage lottery fund. This money is to go towards building regeneration.

Now is it just me or could this money not be used for far better things, like helping get people back to work or going to support care services, health services, or a whole host of other far more worthy causes, rather than making Rothesay prettier?! Having been to Rothesay, I know it is a pretty town and really does not need this cash.

This appears to be a terrible token gesture by someone who has no concept of what would genuinely benefit the town and the island community.
