The Screen Machine - The Mobile Cinema

In the West Highlands of Scotland, we have a mobile digital cinema, also called the Screen Machine.

This wonderful public service travels around the west of Scotland, from the very north, to the islands and down into Argyll.

It is a mobile cinema that is also a truck and seats approximately 90 people. It usually takes 10 weeks to travel back to your location, so every 10 weeks the cinema comes to you - or you can travel to it at other times.

At the moment, it is showing the American and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt1, as well as Megamind.

It usually costs £6 for an adult to view and they do not serve food or beverages, nor do they supply a toilet (this is just not feasible, given the space restrictions).

The Screen Machine can also be hired out for provate functions, times allowing. For more details on the Screen Machine, please follow this link:

Extortionate Fuel bills cripple

A lady in Strathpeffer, Highlands of Scotland, put her heating on for 3 days over the Christmas holidays and it cost her an astounding £300!!! She lives in Albyn Housing accommodation and her GP even sent them a letter to inform them of the health issues of people living in very cold accommodation.

Albyn Housing Association admitted that there was 'room for improvement', according to the Ross-shire Journal.

Many of the tenants state taht they sit in their homes with quilts on over their clothing to stay warm, as they cannot afford the huge electricity bills, and they are calling on AHA to provide a new fuel supplier as a matter of urgency.

Steve Jobs - Get Well Soon

Steve Jobs

Currently in the news is Steve Jobs’ leave of absence from Apple due to medical reasons.

Now most people would think poor man, hope he gets better soon. But the financial world? They want to know why he didn’t tell them sooner, or why he hasn’t revealed why he is taking a medical leave of absence!

This article goes into the details a little more. http://www.bukisa.com/articles/441622_steve-jobs-the-whole-of-apple

It truly never ceases to amaze and shock me how callous some people can be towards other human beings.

Get well soon Steve Jobs.

Politics in general

Is Britain completely disillusioned by politics and especially by politicians? I’m sensing that this is not unique to Britain either.

I think we are now a nation completely disillusioned. We are sick of being lied to and no longer believe in our so called representatives.

Watching the UK parliament on the BBC is much like watching a crèche of infants throwing tantrums and names at each other. It is truly one of the most pathetic sights to behold. Men and women in their thirties, forties, fifties and older behaving like squabbling toddlers, stamping their feet and jeering at the opposition. Pathetic is the only word to use.

Looking around the world, it seems this is not an isolated matter, although perhaps for varying reasons. Politicians are no longer seen as representatives of the public, but as business men and women, trying to out-do one another is a field where they should be showing co-operation towards a common goal, that of the improvement of the lot of their voters.

One point that all politicians seem to have forgotten is that they are servants. They serve the people who put them in office, not the other way around. A politician is a servant of the people and yet the only people they serve are themselves.

Many of us are aware that when a party comes into power they are subject to laws and regulations within the government itself. Civil servants keep them in line. Perhaps they are not aware of just how much power the civil service has, but they are not completely restrained from making the changes they claim they will, prior to election.

It seem to me that election these days means not obligating the manifesto’s they create to become elected.

I would like to hear any suggestions as to what could be done about this!

Poor Mans Illnesses on the Increase

Illnesses once thought eradicated in the UK, and the West, are returning with a vengeance.  Tuberculosis, Scurvy, Rickets, Typhoid - are all on the increase.  Why?   Bad diet, usually caused by lack of funding, is the main reason.

This article talks about each illness, symptoms and possible preventions.  Is the UK reverting back to Victorian times in respect of health?

Just how big a bunch of bankers are they?

Another bank joins in the billion pound bonus disgrace.  Now, normally I wouldn’t be too concerned about bankers receiving bonuses but these particular banks are either part or almost fully owned by the tax payer, so we are forking out the billions for the their bonuses.

Royal Bank of Scotland announced recently that they were giving bonuses (RBS is 80% owned by the tax payer) and now Lloyds Banking Group are saying they expect their boss, Eric Daniels to do the same (they are 41% owned by the tax payer).

I’ve attached 2 articles for your perusal.  I cannot remain objective on this, these people make millions in salaries, now they want millions more in bonuses, and in many cases, the same again in shares!  It’s daylight robbery.  They really think they can get away with it and you know what?  The awful truth is they can.

The government is so scared they’re willing to do anything to keep these (alleged) blackmailers around!

How to really make money online

You’ve seen hundreds of these articles before, they say they’re telling you how to make money on the internet but they just blab on about finding a product to sell, if that.  In reality, they are looking for as many views as possible.
This particular post gives a link to an article I wrote on viable ways of making money online.   This article is not about how many hits I’ll get, it has actual ideas.  If you have more ideas, please add comments, as we can all do with more ideas on how to make money via the internet.
Please also note that I do not advocate gambling in any way, shape, or form, it is just another idea.

We're all trying to save money

At this time of year, money is tight for everyone, and yet businesses like fuel suppliers tend to increase their fees during the winter months, essentially hitting you while you're down.  They are well aware that few people have much to spend, and that bills are always considerably higher at this time (it's colder, we need more heating, it's not rocket science!) and yet they decide that this is the time of year they'll increase their charge.

Why?  Darned if I know, I think they just like to get the boot in while they can.
What can we do about it?  Change provider.  Look at sites such as www.moneysupermarket.com
and www.comparethemarket.com for alternatives.  you won't get a large reduction but at least you'll be telling your current provider that their extortionate rates are not acceptable, and they won't get loyalty from you when they can't offer that same loyalty for standing customers.

There are other ways to try to keep the costs down - have a look at this article for some

Hoping your bills won't be astronomical this winter x

Beginning

Hi,

This is my first ever blog, so please bear with me.  Not sure what to say as a start-off.  Maybe just to say that I love a variety of issues and will be writing about everything and anything, from this Ted Williams dude to the greedy bankers, grrrr.
http://www.bukisa.com/articles/431981_ted-williams-the-man-with-the-golden-voice
http://www.bukisa.com/articles/431970_banks-give-big-bonuses-again

To say it's likely to be an eclectic blog would probably be an understatement.  I talk jibberish in day to day life, and i imagine this will be an extension of this.

Don't want to write anything personal as yet, will just see how things go and take it from there.  Any non-offensive comments are welcome :D

As porky pig would say 'That's all folks!'
